Newtown Township Parks and Recreation is proud to present an exciting new series, Living History! Our first installment presents the incredible stories of a Nazi Holocaust survivor and a WWII veteran, who will tell their chilling tales of this tragic time in the world’s history. Daniel Goldsmith, a Holocaust survivor, recounts having to say goodbye to his father as he was sent to a Nazi work camp, and how his mother placed him and his sister in the care of a convent when she became a courier for the Belgium Underground to help fight the Nazis. Goldsmith will explain how he became an altar boy, and how the Catholics helped protect his family. Our second presenter, Bernard Lens, served under General Patton, will recount how he helped to liberate Dachau, one of the most deadly concentration camps in Germany, where over 30,000 people lost their lives to unparalleled evil. Don’t miss out on this extraordinary opportunity to learn history as shared by two remarkable men.
