1-2-3 Baking Basics

For the First Time Annie B’s Kitchen is offering semi-professional series of Cooking & Baking Classes. The five classes are designed to build on one another.

Day 1

You will learn about Baking Equipment, Smallwares, How to stock your bakery kitchen, and the selection of quality ingredients. You will learn the importance of precision measuring and the how to of measuring correctly. We will begin our first lesson with Artisan Quick-breads and Muffins.

Day2
In our second class you will learn Basic Cake recipes and procedures. You will measure ingredients, prepare the appropriate pans, and learn the three cake mixing procedures: Creaming, Sponge and Angel Food.


Day 3
Custards, Creams and Sauces. You will learn the basics of making fillings, custards, creams, and buttercreams. Difficult preparations made simple

Day 4
Pies, Tarts, and Cookie Doughs. You will learn the basic dough preparations for Pie Pastry, Short Dough and Cookie Doughs and the methods for assembling the doughs.

Day 5
Cake Decorating.
Create a work of art on a buttercream canvas. Learn how to prepare the cakes for filling and decorating. Learn the basic skills needed to shape and ice cakes with simple trimmings.


*A $20 materials fee is due to the instructor at the beginning of class.
